Much to my surprise, found a site called “Tambayan ng Bayan”. Here is an entry regarding the 90th reunion held in Baguio on 1 and 2 May 2009. Read on!
BAGUIO : PARAAN IS “YOUNGEST” OF 90TH CITY HIGH ALUMNI HOMECOMING
BAGUIO CITY --- Hundreds of old time Baguio residents and alumni of the biggest high school north of Manila led by former Mayor and World War II hero Francisco Paraan trooped to the Baguio City National High School for the two day 90th Grand Alumni Homecoming that ended yesterday (May 2 ).
The nonagenarian Paraan was the oldest alumni of the MPHS-BCHS-BCNHS alumni homecoming being a member of the batch of 1935.
The alumni conspicuously missed the presence of three of its oldest alumna: former mayor Virginia de Guia, Baguio – Mt. Province Museum curator and educator Leonora San Agustin and Baguio Midland Courier editor Cecil Afable.
Close to 300 participated in the homecoming, while hundreds other especially from the older batches came up to this mountain resort, some even from the United States, held their own.
Fe Muller, who arrived from las Vegas only two weeks ago, celebrated the reunion with her batchmates from class 1952, while others stayed away from the official celebrations hosted by the silver jubilarians, the class of 1984.
“It is a good turn out,” said class 1984 president Jeanette Macaranas-de Guzman, as her group worked the past 12 months with no let up just to stage the homecoming. The class of 1959 is the golden jubilarian.
This as outgoing MPHS-BCHS-BCNHS alumni association president Tedler Depaynos hosted a lunch fund raiser at the Baguio Country Club Multi-Purpose Hall to raise money for the completion of the Balai ti Alumni, the club house of the alumni association within the BCNHS grounds.
Depaynos said that the house is 60 percent complete, particularly the structural but we need to place the finishing touches to make it functional.
“The next batch will be lucky,” he added, referring to the hosting batch of the 91st homecoming on 2010, the class of 1985 which Wednesday held a concert-launching of their 13 month project leading to next year’s homecoming.
“We have a 13-month program, to raise funds and at least gather 20 percent of the 800 or so batchmates,” said CiTiHi marketing director Pigeon Lobien.
Lobien and his batchmates last night, took the stone of responsibility from the outgoing host batch of 1984 indicating that they will be next year’s host.
