Mini-Reunion, 9th November 2009, Pasay City

This blog does not do justice to the photo sent by Myrna A. You will need to click on the photo as a "thumbnail" so it will get enlarged and you can have a much-much better view of this Fabulous Five. The caption is wrong, the order of people from left should start with Erlinda D-G, then Ludy B-A. Solly!!

Many thanks to Rudy L for sending in the PMA-backdrop photo of Bert and Joe in their Other Past Lives. Dig that PMA pose! Bert looks like he could join the Broadway cast of Grease. That of Erlinda is cut from a large one, a concert at the auditorium ca. 1958 or so. And Lud's, taken at a picnic many moons ago.

Ay Manong Ed, do you have any "vintage" photos or newer ones that you can possibly pass on- I simply could not find one, so St. Edward's was good enough as a substitute, I think.
Hope you guys will contact the rest of your 'mates, for a running account of this joyous mini-reunion. Sigue garudden, you please write soon! And more photos would of course enrich this blog and share those great moments with others.

Hi there, Apo Lakay Ed. It’s been a long time that we’ve heard from each other. Hope that you have been keeping in touch with notices, impressions, thrills, curiosities, narratives, traces of our co-class 61 mates through our Class 61 blog.

How are you, are you keeping well, living the life of a saint or traveler or king or all of the above? Anything very special happening with yourself, the family, friends, computers, toys?

Here is a special request: since the blog is somewhat serving a backbone function of communicating with our classmates, I wonder if you could forward anything: your thoughts, new or old photos, prayers, stories, whatever comes into mind, about your life, history, disposition, detailed account, chapters, collection of wise sayings, sketches, whatever. We wish to preserve these for posterity through cyberspace, and your Life especially is of interest to us all, being a self made man, discoverer of the joys of life, the ups and downs of your reign in this one life.

Anyway, here are a few questions which could probably assist you to guide yourself on sharing your mind and thoughts.

Where did the name buenaflor come from, any history about it? Who were you named after?

When was your moment when you realized that City High was “so dear to me… I shall love thee ever be wherever I may…?

Which of the boy classmates do you admire most, you buddied with, who is the most open minded, who would you share an island with should you get stranded, who would you drop into the side of the ship on the high seas without thinking about it. Any special impressions about anyone?

When did you have your first drink and do you think back much about it, any regrets?

What does money represent to you: a blessing, curse, whatever.

If you were a book what would be the title, a brief description of the contents, to whom you would dedicate it to, short or long, lessons learned?

Who of the girl classmates of class 61 is your Ideal Girl, did you have any notions of Ideal Girls in class 60 or 62 or 63 or as far back as you can remember, any relieving of positive memories?

Who of the CT high teachers we had, were the most transparent, the most inspiring, did you have any particular role mentoring models, any anecdotes about them you remember many times, and any that you wish never happened and would soon forget?

So you see, it would be nice to plumb your thoughts and share them with your fellow men and women of class 61.

This is of course a very tall order but you can send these to me in bits and pieces, in slices of time, in so many words or in so few words. Because Dude we need to share. And to share soon. Or we shall have very deep pockets of regret and remorse that we did not share until it is far too late, too little nga connada. I believe sharing is one way of achieving a state of happiness, joy, fascination, a chance that is not available to all. We are all way past caring with remorse, dark vengeful thoughts, blame, idiosyncracies: we are all Goldens soon, after all!

Share met a, Apo!! Evelyn.

Hi there, Nora, so very nice to hear from you. You are right, I did plan to go to Baguio but had to change plans to go to the Philippines at that time. Two rangtays were swept by the typhoons and part of the road also was nai-ayos by the floods, leading to my mother's place in Salcedo, so we were advised that we should wait til the conditions became better. Ditto with Naguilian, Marcos and Kennon at that time. So my next trip to Baguio will be in late April, in time to see the Class 60 golden homecoming. Do you still have photos of your uncle Hipolito, if you do we could certainly be happy to be sharing it with others! As with your stories or anything at all to be shared in the blog. We need your inputs.

I think Arthur had just returned from Canada so he had not planned to be at the Manila mini-reunion.

All the very best to you and your family , a big wave for me to the Bay Bridge, natarimaan san, aya? E.
